About the NMCA

Launched by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, the National Metropolitan Choir of Australia is under the musical direction of award-winning composer and conductor Mr Themos Mexis, whose musical and cultural contribution to Hellenism in Australia is well recognized.

The NMCA will be giving its first major performance Friday, March 25th 2022, Sydney Town Hall to honour the 30th anniversary of the enthronement of His All Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and we are calling on all choristers to be part of this exciting performance!

His Eminence Archbishop Makarios

His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, was born in Heraklion of Crete in 1973 and has completed post-graduate studies at the Universities of Boston, Harvard, and Monash. He is the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of Australia and of all Oceania since May 2019.

Themos Mexis

An award winning composer and conductor,  Themos Mexis has performed and conducted a variety of concerts, predominantly of his own music, in various concert halls in Australia, Cyprus, Trieste and Greece.
